DESCRIPTION:Report from the Frontlines of the liberation struggle in West
 Africa\n\nWhat: Public Forum\nContact: (510) 625-1106\n\nFormer child
soldier, journalist and political leader\nChernoh Alpha M. Bah will speak
at the Faith Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 4th a "report from the
frontlines\nof the African liberation struggle".\n\nAt the age of 12, Bah
fought in the civil war in\nSierra Leone, going on to become an award
winning\njournalist. He is now leader of the Africanist\nMovement, whose
70,000 members in Sierra Leone,\nGuinea-Conakry, Nigeria, Cameroon, and
Liberia seek to\nregain African indigenous control over African
mineral\nand agricultural resources.\n \nTensions are mounting in Sierra
Leone with the\napproaching elections. While the ruling Sierra
Leone\nPeople's Party grants lucrative mining concessions to\nforeign
companies to finance their electoral\ncampaigns, the average life span of
the population\nremains at 37 and most citizens have no electricity
or\nclean water. Some analysts predict another war will\nbreak out over
control of the diamond-rich region.\n\nIn his Oakland address, Bah will
report on the\nroles of foreign governments and corporations in
 the\nconflict and present his organization's program for\nthe
nationalization of mining industries and\ndemocratization of the country.
(for more on Chernoh\nAlpha M. Bah,

local residents about\ncurrent world events and his campaign for
the\nunification of Africa into a single nation, before\nreturning to his
schedule of speaking engagements\nthroughout the U.S., Europe and
Africa.\nFor info about the tour, see
