DESCRIPTION:Superman, Wonder Woman, and Spiderman will rally at 1:00 p.m. at\nLytton
Plaza in Palo Alto on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 with other heroic\ncitizens to
demand the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. During the rally,\nmusician
August Bullock will sing "Heroes of
 America"\nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYgYVcFzw9s, which inspired the
theme for this\nmonth’s rally, and the Raging Grannies will also
perform.\n\n After the music, “Heroic Citizens for Impeachment”
awards will be\npresented to Brad Newsham, who organized the two major
“Beach Impeach”\nevents in San Francisco, inspiring Impeachment
spellings across the country;\nCynthia Peterson from Code Pink, who
organized vigils at Nancy Pelosi’s\nmansion as well as rallies and
 marches for impeachment; Carol Wolman\n(
http://www.impeachbush-cheney.com), who ran for Congress in 2006 on
an\nImpeachment platform; and Don Spark from World Can’t Wait, who
helped\norganize major impeachment events and street actions.\n\n At
2:00 p.m. the heroes will call for impeachment as they march\nthrough
downtown Palo Alto to Congresswoman Anna Eshoo’s office at\n698 Emerson
Street. The rally at Lytton Plaza, which will include\nentertainment and
refreshments, is open to the public.\n\n The heroes in Palo Alto are
not the only ones calling for impeachment.\nCongressman Dennis Kucinich
introduced articles of impeachment against\nVice President Cheney on April
24th. The two cosponsors are US Reps.\nWm. Lacy Clay (D-MO) and Janice
Schakowsky (D-IL). Congressman John\nMurtha mentioned impeachment as an
option on CBS’s Face the Nation:\n\n “We need to make this
president understand, Mr. President,\n the public has spoken.
There’s three ways or four ways to\n influence a president. One is
popular opinion, the election,\n third is impeachment and fourth is
the purse.”\n\n When Bob Schieffer pressed him on whether impeachment
was a serious\n option on the table, Murtha responded, “I’m just
saying that’s one\n way to influence a president.”\n\n On April
28th, “the national day of impeachment” in over 125 locations\nacross
the country, citizens spelled out “IMPEACH” to get their
message\nacross to the public, the press and the Congress. Over 1500
people\ngathered on Ocean Beach in San Francisco to spell out “IMPEACH
NOW!”\nand then “PEACE NOW!” This demonstration, dramatically visible
from the\nair, was followed by a parade to Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco
mansion for\nan impeachment rally. Jacob Park’s website for the
impeachment actions\nat http://www.a28.org was overwhelmed by photos,
videos, and reports of\nactions from around the U.S. as well as other
countries, including Italy\nand Egypt.\n\n A concerted effort is
underway to pressure Congress and the press to\nrecognize and stop the
criminal activities, including war, being carried out\nby the US
government.\n\n Congresswoman Eshoo has repeatedly rejected calls for
impeachment,\nclaiming that removing the President would tear the country
apart. Brouillet\nand other activists intend to remind her that her oath of
office requires her\nto defend the Constitution against all enemies, even
when those who\nthreaten the Constitution include the President and Vice
President.\n\n Sponsors of the event include the Northern California
9/11 Truth Alliance, \nThe Santa Clara County Green Party, the Silicon
 Valley Impeachment Coalition.\n\n
