DESCRIPTION:Venezuela Book Author on Bay Area Tour\n\n	Charles Hardy's book, Cowboy in
Caracas, is a memoir of Venezuela's democratic revolution. Currently
residing in Venezuela, Hardy has been writing and speaking about the
political and social reality of Latin America for over forty years. Born in
Wyoming, he has visited almost every Central and South American country,
and, as a Catholic priest, lived eight years in a cardboard shack in a
Venezuelan barrio.\n	Since April 10 he has been touring the U.S. discussing
why President Hugo Chávez Frias won in a landslide victory in 1998, the
government's overthrow during the 2002 coup d'etat, and how the persistence
of his supporters, mostly barrio dwellers, returned President Chávez to
power within 48 hours. \n	On Thursday, May 10, 7:30 PM Charlie will speak
at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists Fireside Room, 1924
Cedar St (at Bonita), Berkeley.\n	Co-sponsors of this event are the BFUU
Social Justice Committee and Marin Interfaith Task Force on the Americas. A
$5-10 donation is requested. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
For information, please call 415/924-3227, email mitf@igc.org, or go to
