DESCRIPTION:From Apartheid Walls to Security Fences: Barriers to Justice\n\nIn the 80's

landscape. But in November of 1989, the Berlin Wall\ncame down.\n\nCome
hear about the grassroots struggles to bring down two
modern\nwalls—Israel's wall in Palestine and the USA's wall on the
Mexico\nborder – and discuss how these struggles are linked and are
important\nparts of the broader struggle against war and imperialism and
for\nglobal justice.\n\nPresented by the Heads Up
Collective.\n\nSpeakers:\n\nReem Assil is a Palestinian Activist in the Bay
Area. She is the\nProgram and Training Coordinator at the Center for Third
World\nOrganizing, a racial-justice organization led by people of color
whose\nmission is to achieve economic and social justice.\n\nJosé Palafox
teaches in the Latin American and Latino Studies\nDepartment at the
University of California, Santa Cruz. He will be\nspeaking from his years

accessible space.\n\nThe Heads Up Collective is a white anti-racist,
anti-imperialist\nproject. We are rooted in the global justice and anti-war
movements.\n\nWe work from the foundation that all people have the right to
housing,\nfood, health care, meaningful work, and healthy communities. In
short,\nwe believe in the need for revolutionary change and the liberation
of\nall people from the systems of white supremacy,
patriarchy,\ncapitalism, heterosexism, the gender binary system, and
 imperialism.\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/05/02/18408745.php
