DESCRIPTION:On Thursday, June 7, 2007, please join Post Carbon Santa Clara Valley for a 
 presentation by David Fridley entitled "The Myths of Biofuels." This 
 promises to be a very important and timely presentation while Silicon 
 Valley considers new ventures in green energy technologies.\n\nThe 
 presentation will address the following questions:\n• What is the energy 
 return for biofuels vs. the energy used to produce them?\n• What is the 
 environmental impact of biofuels production?\n• Do biofuels have a 
 future?\n• Are biofuels a sustainable alternative to fossil 
 fuels?\n\n\nDavid Fridley has 25 years of experience working and living in 
 China. Prior to 1993, Mr. Fridley led the China Energy Project at the 
 East-West Center in Hawaii primarily in the area of petroleum supply and 
 demand, refinery analysis and modeling, international oil trade and energy 
 policy. Since 1995, Mr. Fridley has been a staff scientist and leader of 
 the China Energy Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 
 Berkeley, \nCalifornia, where his work involves extensive collaboration 
 with the Chinese on end-use energy efficiency, industrial energy use, 
 government energy management programs, data compilation and analysis, 
 medium and long term energy policy research. He is very involved in issues 
 surrounding the potential problems associated with peak oil.\n\nPost Carbon 
 Santa Clara Valley is a group of valley residents who are advocating 
 relocalization strategies for Silicon Valley in response to the peaking of 
 world oil supplies and U.S. natural gas supplies.  We are an outpost of the
