Socialist Action\n \nThe raids conducted by Immigration and Customs
Enforcement Agency has swept up over 18,000 immigrants nationally and more
than 800 in the Bay Area. Many are sent to detention centers along the
border where they can expect swift deportation without any regard for their
human and legal rights.\n\nThis Homeland Security campaign, named
“Operation Return to Sender,” tears apart families and seeks to
terrorize a whole population of 12 million immigrants in the the U.S.
Meanwhile, the official alternative offered in Congress is some form of
legislation that would create an indentured-servitude-like guest worker
program making immigrant workers dependent on their employer for their
legal status.\n\nA massive outpouring of 4-5 million immigrants and their
allies on May 1, 2006 demonstrated the potential power they have to
determine their own fate.\n\nDedicated activists around the country
continue to organize to stop the raids. They are part of the new and vital
civil rights movement in the U.S. for dignity and legalization of all
undocumented immigrants.\n\nFind a PDF of flyer at
 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Socialist_Action/files/\nPlease print, post,
 forward, and distribute widely.\n\nIn solidarity,\nMark Ostapiak\n
