 the lowest caste of a deeply\nracist society, earning so little they 
 qualified for welfare. In the film,\nretired workers recall     the fear as 
 they took on the entire white power\nstructure when they struck for higher 
 wages and union recognition...At the\nRiver I Stand succeeds in showing   
 that the causes (and possibly the\nsolutions) to our present racial 
 quandary may well be found in what\nhappened in Memphis. Its riveting 
 portrait of the grit and determination\nof ordinary people will inspire 
 viewers to rededicate themselves to racial\nand economic justice.\n\nThe 
 mission of YoungWorkersUnited is to increase access for young people\nin 
 San Francisco to quality education and employment by organizing youth\nas 
 workers, students and consumers to hold corporations and 
 policymakers\naccountable, and to unite the youth and labor movements to 
 raise standards\nin non-union, low-wage jobs. YoungWorkersUnited was formed 
 in 2002 to\nidentify and address the particular needs of youngworkers, and 
 of\nlow-wage workers in food service and retail in general. While they 
 build a\nlocal organization of youngworkers to improve their lives, they 
 are also\ndisseminating their unique analysis nationally to unionists, 
 youth\norganizations, worker centers, researchers, and advocates.\n\nThis 
 event is part of an ongoing monthly series showcasing radical films\nand 
 supporting local organizing. Films are shown on the patio at El Rio\nevery 
 fourth Tuesday.\n\nFree, but donations gladly accepted. Space is wheelchair 
 accessible, but\nbathrooms are not. Unfortunately the space is 21 and
