DESCRIPTION:TALES OF ANTS AND ECONOMICS IN THE AMERICAS\n\nThe Beehive Collective 
 (www.beehivecollective.org) is a political\ngraphics workshop based in 
 Maine, known for creating accessible,\npowerful imagery to explain 
 important issues of our time. Since 2001,\nthe Bees have been working on a 
 trilogy of posters on corporate\nglobalization. Parts one and two dealt 
 with the proposed FTAA trade\nagreement and Plan Colombia; the third 
 poster, currently in progress,\nfocuses on Plan Puebla-Panama (PPP), a 
 mega-infrastructure development\nproject for southern Mexico and Central 
 America designed to facilitate\ncorporate exploitation of the region, 
 paving the way for the Free Trade\nArea of the Americas.\n\nWith their 
 presentation "Dismantling Monoculture: Tale of Ants and\nEconomics in the 
 Americas," the Bees will use three giant illustrated\nportable murals, a 
 slideshow, and an engaging narrative to take us on an\ninteractive visual 
 tour of the connections between colonization,\nmilitarization, and resource 
 extraction in the Americas.\n\nIt's a picture-lecture to be understood by 
 *anyone* - not just the\nexperts and political analysts JOIN IN as we 
 de-construct the complex\nand overwhelming issues that are shaping our 
 world, using\nbio-regionally accurate depictions of animals and insects 
 as\nmetaphors to link cultural and ecological
