 communities of color Shawnna Demmons will discuss prisons as a public 
 health issue.\n\nDrawing on her experience as a child of an incarcerated 
 parent and a decade of work advocating for the rights of children whose 
 parent(s) are in prison and jail, early childhood educator Sydney Gurewitz 
 Clemens will talk about ways the community can support the children whose 
 lives have been uprooted, disconnected, confused and injured in most cases 
 by their relative's involvement with the criminal justice 
 system.\n\nUrszula Wislanka will contribute what she learned from the 
 California women prisoners' organizing themselves over the last 12 years to 
 fight against de-humanization of prisoners.\n\nA free and full discussion
