   ( ! ) \n\nCity Hall: This Thursday, March 15th @4:30pm\n\nRally & Public
Hearing \nIn Front of the Planning Commission at City Hall, Room 400\n\nTo
Carry On \n\nThe Historic Site of Higher Learning at 55 Laguna\n\nFLOOD THE
 COURTROOM ( ! )\n\nSPEAK WITH YOUR PRESENCE ( ! )\n\nWe meet outside on the
greens at 4:30pm\n\nfor story telling, music and mingling \n\nuntil this
issue (Item #18) is called to attention.\n\nIt is a simple question of
Zoning. \n\nDo we want Private or Public ?\n\nCommercial or Educational
?\n\nShort term or Long Term ?\n\nBenefit for a Few (UC Regents) or Benefit
of an Entire Population (The Whole Bay Area and Its Historic Legacy of
Education and Culture) ?\n\nThe UC Regents have proposed: to change the
zoning from Education (Public) to Mixed Use
(Commercial/Residential…Private). Their plan includes destruction of the
awesome architecture and artistry, displacement of thousands of local
students, and replacing an education center with luxury lofts and
commercial enterprises for the sole purpose of reaping profits from
privatized land.\n\nAn alternative: Keep the Educational Zoning to carry
on the site’s 150-plus years of public use and allow organizations like
New College (who believe in Education as a mode of social well-being and
equality) to pick up where UC Berkley left off; continually leaning toward
a better society by cultivating healthy, vibrant, cultural expressions and
applied knowledge. \n\nPlease attend the Rally and Public Hearing. Please
sign the petition for a Citizen’s Advisory Committee
 http://www.petitiononline.com/UCBEsite/petition.html. \n\n Please keep your
eyes open for future developments. For more info: 415.282.7197\n\n\n
