 FSRN and MAl de Ojo TV, the indie collective that produced the 
 movies.\n\nThere's a Q&A between screenings at around 8 PM (show up early

 OAXACA\n short documentaries from the Oaxaca Commune,  produced by Mal de 
 Ojo TV\n\n A highly-contested presidential election and a 
 Zapatista-led\ncampaign to unite the anti-capitalist Left made 2006 a 
 tumultuous year\nin Mexico.\n\n In the southern state of Oaxaca, a 
 broad-based citizens movement to\nunseat an unpopular and corrupt governor 
 turned into a grassroots\nuprising for direct democracy.\n\n For months, 
 residents of Oaxaca City maintained more than 1,000\nstreet barricades, 
 sprawling protest encampments, occupations of\ngovernment buildings and 
 takeovers of broadcast media outlets.\n\n Mexico's federal government later 
 sent in thousands of militarized\npolice to crack down on the popular 
 uprising and prop up the regime of\nthe despised state governor\n\n 
 Witnessing all of these events unfold was a lively independent 
 media\nmovement. This series of short documentaries produced by Mal de Ojo 
 TV\nprovides a glimpse into life during one of the most vibrant 
 movements\nin contemporary Latin America. Mal de Ojo TV collective member 
 and\nFree Speech Radio News Oaxaca correspondent will be at the 
 screenings\nfor a Q and A session.\n\n
