DESCRIPTION:The second day of Nobelity's run! Check our website, or check back here for
these dates to be added to this calendar. \n\nLocation: Fools Foundation -
1025 19th St. Off of K St, between 19th and 20th, next to the back-end of
Old Spaghetti Factory. 7:00 PM. Admission: $7.00. Advance tickets are on
sale at Brown Paper Tickets - the first and only fair trade ticketing
agency who donates part of their profits to worthwhile causes. Advance
tickets are recommended. You can get them here:
 http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/11285\n\n\nA stunning look at the
world’s most pressing problems through the eyes of nine Nobel Laureates,
"Nobelity" follows filmmaker Turk Pipkin’s personal journey to find
enlightening answers about the kind of world our children and grandchildren
will know. Filmed across the US, and in France, England, India, and Africa,
"Nobelity" combines the insights of nine distinguished Nobelists with a
first-person view of world problems and the children who are most
challenged by them. \n\nThe nine laureates featured are Steven Weinberg,
Richard E. Smalley, Harold E. Varmus, Jody Williams, Ahmed Zewail, Wangari
Maathai, Joseph Rotblat, Amartya Sen and Desmond Tutu. They discuss issues
such as hunger, poverty, nuclear disarmament, climate change, African
development, education to build understanding between cultures, clean
water, global health and health disparities, the ability for one person to
make change, and much more. \n\nContent is appropriate for all ages. \n\nWe
are currently working on lining up speakers for at least the Friday
showing. More info to come on this as well, at
http://www.shiny-object.com/screenings/ \n\nA portion of the proceeds go to
the Nobelity Project, "a certified education and action non-profit working
towards a better future for all of our children by connecting people with
reliable information and innovative thinking all over the world on pressing
global problems, as well as working on specific well-defined projects (such
as construction of a water system for the St. Joseph's Mahiga Primary
School in Kenya)." \n\nWe are doing regular weekly film screenings with
Fools Foundation on Fridays at 7 PM, although "Nobelity" will screen on 3
days - most are $5 (unless otherwise noted in advance, such as this one),
and will have filmmakers out from time to time. Digital projection on to a
large screen. Seating is on folding chairs - feel free to bring a pillow or
cushion - or even your own folding chair! \n\nYou can always check
