DESCRIPTION:This is day six of 8 days of Anarchy.\n\nSEVENTH ANNUAL BASTARD ANARCHIST
THEORY CONFERENCE, SUNDAY MARCH 18th, 2007 \nCome to the longest-running US
anarchist theory conference! This year we will present workshops by—among
others—Professor of Art History Allan Antliff; authors Shon Macfessel
(Shuffled How It Gush) and Wolfi Landstreicher; Cindy Milstein. The
conference will take place at Dwinelle Hall on the UC Berkeley Campus on
 Sunday, March 18, 2007, from 9:30am - 6pm. \nWe are proud to host UFC
fighter Jeff Munson and ex-Black Panther Ashanti Allston as keynote
speakers.\nJoin our (non)trivia contest and amaze your friends with your
encyclopedic knowledge! See our website (www.sfbay-anarchists.org) for
contest rules.\nThe BASTARD conference promotes the understanding that
there are multiple valid approaches to anarchism, each of which has points
that are worth examining. Please come and share your approach.\nParticipate
in a commerce-free event with other anarchists who are interested in the
theory and philosophy of where we've come from, where we are, and where
 we're going. \nSliding scale donation. Wheelchair accessible.\n\n\nSelected
bios:\nAshanti Alston —former member of the Black Panther Party and
ex-political prisoner. He is a board member of the Institute for Anarchist
Studies and publishes the zine Anarchist Panther. He has been a guest
lecturer at the Institute for Social Ecology in Vermont—speaking on the
Panthers and the history of Black Nationalist movements. He recently spent
six months in Chiapas studying the autonomous structure of Zapatista
communities and writing his memoirs. He resides in New York, where he
served as the regional coordinator for Critical Resistance, a national
organization committed to ending the Prison-Industrial Complex.\n\nCindy
Milstein —co-organizer of the Renewing the Anarchist Tradition
conference, a board member with the Institute for Anarchist Studies, and a
member of Free Society Collective and Black Sheep Books collective in
Montpelier, Vermont. Her work appears in anti-authoritarian periodicals and
several recent anthologies, including “Globalize Liberation” (City
Lights Books), “Confronting Capitalism” (Soft Skull Press), and “Only
a Beginning” (Arsenal Pulp Press).\nJeff Monson — world renowned
submission wrestler and multiple winner of the Abu-Dhabi Combat Club
Submission Wrestling World Championship. He is also a mixed martial arts
fighter with a record of 22 wins and 6 losses, as well as a professional
boxing record of two wins and one draw. Monson is also known for his
political views and affiliations: "I am an anarchist, someone who would
like to do away with all class hierarchy in society and the institutions
that promote this inequality." Whenever he fights, his anarchist tattoos
and patches publicize his beliefs. Monson is a member of the Industrial
Workers of the World. Before focusing on his fighting career, he worked as
a mental health professional, both in a crisis evaluation role and as a
child/family counselor.\n\nBASTARD is an ad hoc group that has grown out of
the Anarchist Study Group, which meets every Tuesday night at 8pm at the
Long Haul in Berkeley. We read and discuss essays and books and watch
videos of relevance to anarchist theory and history. We're currently
reading Stirner's The Ego and Its Own.\n\n
