DESCRIPTION:We invite female artists, students, community workers, educators, and 
 activists to participate in a day-long Theatre of the Oppressed training 
 hosted by Levana Saxon, Rosa Gonzalez and Jessica Bell.\n \nThe purpose of 
 this training is to: introduce you to the practice of Theatre of the 
 Oppressed and how it can be used as a social change and educational tool, 
 and improve your skills at facilitating some Theatre of the Oppressed 
 exercises, including the technique called forum theatre.  Finally, we will 
 use our skills to produce an interactive performance piece.\n\n--------\n

 IS THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED?    Theatre of the Oppressed was a tool 
 developed by Brazilian theatre director and activist Augusto Boal. It is a 
 form of popular theater made by and for people who are trying to change the 
 world.   More specifically, Theatre of the Oppressed is a series of 
 participatory performance exercises for people who want to creatively 
 analyze and discuss problems with oppression and power, and explore group 
 solutions to their problems.  Find out more:

 Saxon is an educator activist dedicated to participatory and creative 
 education for the earth. Levana currently works as an educator and 
 organizer for the Rainforest Action Network. She recently completed her MA 
 in Education at San Francisco State University. \n\nJessica Bell is an 
 organizer for the Solutions Project, an organization that provides support 
 and training to innovative campaigns that are advancing sustainability and 
 justice in the east bay.  Jessica worked at Rainforest Action Network as a 
 campaigner for two and a half years. \n \nRosa Esperanza González is a 
 middle school teacher, writer, and visual/performing artist.  She is a 
 member of the guerrilla spoken word and political group, headRush and a 
 founding member of Las Man@s, an all-women’s writing collective.  Rosa 
 has a Masters in Latin American Studies from Stanford and a Masters in 
 Teaching from the Arts in Education program at the University of San
