DESCRIPTION:East Bay Animal Advocates asks Lunardi's Supermarket to have a heart for
chickens before Valentine's Day \n\nOn Sunday, February 11th, join East Bay
Animal Advocates (EBAA) in asking Lunardi's Supermarket to stop selling
eggs from chickens raised in overcrowded, wire cages (known as battery
 cages).\n\nAs a high-end grocery chain, Lunardi's proclaims its
purported\ncommitment to excellence: "We can explain our prices, but we
don't ever want to have to justify our quality." Recently, EBAA documented
conditions at one of Lunardi's egg suppliers. Shockingly, Lunardi's still
sells eggs from chickens confined in overcrowded, wire cages. Citing
concerns over animal care, EBAA has contacted Lunardi’s many times
without a single response. Moreover, Lunardi's is the lead competitor of
Andronico's Market, which stopped selling battery cage eggs in October
 2006.\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/01/31/18355205.php
