briefly at noon during a ceremony honoring Dr.\nMartin Luther King. At 3:00
pm and 7:00 pm, Yee will give a longer lecture describing his experiences
at Guantanamo Prison and his illegal incarceration in a top-secret military
prison which violated his right to Habeus Corpus and his 1st, 6th, 7th and
 8th Ammendment rights.\n\nA third-generation Chinese-American, his entire
family has a\nrecord of American exemplary military service dating back to
WWI.\n\nYee was a stellar West Point graduate with a distinguished career
as a military officer.\n\nYee was initially assigned to Guantanamo Prison
to serve as\nMuslim Chaplain to the prisioners. Because he provided
spiritual\ncounseling to Muslim inmates and protested torture and human
rights violations at Guantanamo, after less than one year serving there, he
was illegally incarcerated in 2002 as an "enemy combatant" at a top-secret
naval prison in Charleston, South Carolina, This is where all Americans
accused of being "terrorist sympathizers" are imprisoned. Upon his arrest.
the military refused to let his family know his whereabouts. He was denied
mail, visitors and legal represenation. Yee was accused of espionage by the
military and threatened with the death penalty. He spent 76 days in
solitary confinement and was subject to abusive torture treatment.\n\nIn
2004, the government dropped all charges against him due to\nlack of
evidence. He never received an apology from the government and resigned in
disgust, due to his military career was destroyed and in ruins. In October
2005, Yee wrote the book "For God and Country: Faith and Patriotism Under
 Fire." \n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/01/23/18351077.php
