 Sites, Indigenous Environmental Network, International Indian Treaty 
 Council and Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice are putting on 
 this training to teach people about direct action to protect Indigenous 
 peoples, lands, culture and sacred sites. \n\nTopics will include:\n∑ 
 What is direct action? What is civil disobedience? What are other forms of 
 direct action?\n∑ How activism has been used to protect Medicine Lake and 
 other sacred sites from desecration and destruction.\n∑ Why engage in 
 direct action?\n∑ What are the risks of direct action?\n∑ Direct Action 
 in the context of Spiritual/Ceremonial Gatherings\n∑ Examples of 
 successful direct actions and lessons learned\n∑ video/dvd footage of 
 Indigenous actions!\n∑ Learn about the successful 113 day occupation of 
 the proposed nuclear waste\ndump at Ward Valley that led to victory for the 
 Colorado River Native Nations Alliance?\n∑ Learn about the successful 13 
 day blockade by the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla and allies that stopped 
 illegal sewage sludge dumping on their land\n∑ Learn about Native-led 
 actions in Hawaii.\n∑ Native/non-Native alliances – principled 
 collaboration\n∑ How direct action can be used to save Medicine Lake and
