 is an anti-death penalty activist, author, journalist, \nand film producer. 
 She was a close friend of and advocate for\nexecuted Crips co-founder 
 Stanley Tookie Williams and was in\nattendance at Williams' execution as 
 one of his witnesses.  She was\neditor of Williams' series of children's 
 books, which spoke out \nagainst gang violence and was co-producer of the 
 Golden Globe \nnominated film Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams 
 Story.\n\nBecnel ran for the Democratic Party's nomination for Governor 
 of\nCalifornia in 2006, and came in third (out of eight Democrats) behind 
 \nPhil Angelides and Steve Westly. She has since re-registered 
 Green.\n\nBeverages and snacks will be provided.\n\nLOCATION:

 discussions \nsponsored by the Outreach Working Group of the Green Party of 
 Alameda\nCounty. They are held on the 2nd Sunday of each month. The monthly 
 \nbusiness meeting of the County Council of the Green Party of 
 Alameda\nCounty follows at 6:45 p.m. Council meetings are always open
