DESCRIPTION:Spheres of Interest: Experiments in Thinking and Action Spring 
 2007\n5:00pm, free and open to the public\n\nSpheres of Interest, the 
 Graduate Lecture Series provides an opportunity for students to engage with 
 the thoughts and productions of an international array of guest 
 participants from a variety of fields. One of the goals of the series is to 
 provoke students to imagine unfamiliar forms of perceiving and creating 
 through exposure to challenging ideas concerning how different forms of 
 contemporary and historical creative production can be conceived in the 
 present. The guest participants will not invite smooth or easy receptions 
 to the aural, visual, textual, and spatial operations, with which they are 
 engaged, but in contrast, will raise questions from the perspective of 
 producers and analysts about present and past forms of being and 
 production.\n\nJanuary 26 \nJudith Barry\n“Sites Taken for 
 Wonder”\n\nJudith Barry is an artist and writer whose work crosses a 
 number of disciplines: performance, installation, sculpture, architecture, 
 photography, and new media. She has exhibited internationally at the Berlin 
 Biennial (2003), several Venice Biennales of both Art and Architecture 
 (1988, 2000, 2001), Bienal de São Paulo (1994), Nagoya Biennial (1993), 
 Carnegie International (2001), Whitney Biennial (1987), Sydney Biennial 
 (1982), and two InSites (San Diego/Tijuana) (1997, 2000), among others. In 
 2000, she was awarded the Kiesler Prize for Architecture and the Arts and 
 in 2001 her piece, “Voice Off,” received “Best Pavilion” and 
 “Audience Award” at the 8th Cairo Biennial. Recent exhibitions include 
 Queens International, Queens Museum (2006); Galerie Karin Sachs, Munich 
 (2006); SHOP 1V, Whitechapel Gallery (2006); Dark Places, Santa Monica 
 Museum of Art (2006); Wall to be Destroyed, Frac Lorraine, Metz (2005); 
 Baroque/Neo Baroque, DA2, Salamanca (2005); Phonorama, ZKM, Karlsruhe 
 (2004); East Village USA, New Museum, NY (2004). In Spring 2007 a traveling 
 survey of her work will open in Domus Atrium 2, Salamanca, Spain. Barry is 
 currently Director of the MFA Program at the Art Institute of Boston/Lesley
