DESCRIPTION:The Alameda Public Affairs Forum, is very pleased to present columnist and 
 author, Robert Scheer, on Saturday, January 20th, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Home 
 of Truth Center, 1300 Grand Street, Alameda.  Mr. Scheer will be discussing 
 his new book, “Playing President:  My Close Encounters with Nixon, 
 Carter, Bush I, Reagan and Clinton—and How They Did Not Prepare Me for 
 George W. Bush”.  His decisive and dynamic perspective provides an 
 unparalleled insight into the presidential mind.  “If anyone has more 
 succinctly stated, and summarized the folly we call presidential 
 campaigns,” writes John Dean, “I am not aware of it.”\n\nRobert 
 Scheer has covered presidential politics for the Los Angeles Times for 
 thirty years, and now as a syndicated columnist, including for the San 
 Francisco Chronicle.  He is the author of six books, including “With 
 Enough Shovels:  Reagan, Bush and Nuclear War” and “America after 
 Nixon:  The Age of the Multinationals”.  He is co-author of “The Five 
 Biggest Lies Bush Told Us About Iraq”.  He is a clinical professor of 
 communications at the Annenberg School at the University of Southern 
 California, and editor of Truthdig.com, a contributing editor of The 
 Nation, and cohost of NPR-affiliate KCRW’s Left, Right and Center\n \nMr. 
 Scheer will speak at the Forum for an hour and then have questions and 
 discussions with the audience.  The event is free, donations are welcome.
