 Thursday, December 21, 2006, at 10 am, at the San Francisco Day 
 Labor\nProgram, 3358 Cesar Chavez St., hundreds of the city's day laborers 
 will\ngather for a press conference to denounce the recent immigration 
 raids that\ntook place in various states.\n\nA few days ago, homeland 
 security agents swept into Swift and Company\nmeatpacking plants in six 
 states and arrested nearly 1,300 workers, almost\n10 percent of the 
 company's work force, in what was the largest workplace\nraid in the 
 country's history.\n\nThe day laborers will discuss their situations and 
 conditions as immigrant\nworkers in this country.\n\n"As day laborers, we 
 are in the middle of the current immigration debate,"\nstates Julio Loyola, 
 a day laborer and member of the San Francisco Day Labor\nProgram.  "We come 
 to this country to work, but we continue to be\nscapegoated and terrorized 
 through these raids."\n\nAfter the press conference, the workers will cross 
 the street to St.\nAnthony's Church and hold their annual holiday party 
 from 12 to 2 pm.  The\nparty is being co-sponsored by the SF Day Labor
