DESCRIPTION: Monday the 18th festivities – come join the fun!\n\nMonday the 18th
Humanity for Homeless will be putting on our largest meal of the
year.\n\nFrom local donations, we will serve ham, mashed potatoes, homemade
cranberry sauce, apple pie, rolls, hot apple cider and homemade bread.
Musicians are welcome as this will be a festive atmosphere. Children and
adults are welcome and some will be serving. We ask anyone who wants to
help or just join us to come on down - 6pm. in front of New Leaf Market on
Pacific Ave.\n\nSo far, we have 100 pairs of new socks to give out and 28
blankets. Please consider collecting socks, blankets, and sleeping bags
from your neighbors as many are doing now. I will pick up any donations in
Santa Cruz County or you can bring any food or clothes or other donations
to the event. We will serve in front of New Leaf market as every Monday at
6:00pm, or when the Kiosk closes.\n\nI would like to thank KPIG, Debbie
Lewis from Miss Jessie Mays, Debbie Dixon, Judy and Dan Atwell. Memebers of
Safe, Robert Norse and all of HUFF , The Human Rights Organization and
everyone who has just came by and dropped off food over the last 30 weeks.
Many more people will be added to this list as I go and pick up even more
donations today.\n\nHumanity for Homeless works without permits. We bring
the food and clothing directly to the homeless. We feel it is our
Constitutional Right to serve food to anyone on public property. We have
had success due to the many activists jailed for feeding the homeless in
the 80's. We are ever grateful for their activism and willingness to go to
jail for something they felt strongly about. They are the true heroes. In
Santa Cruz, when an activist was jailed for feeding it brought
international attention. Until the recent harassment of Potters Hand, the
city has ignored or allowed feeding of the homeless. We fear this may
change as we have noticed a rise in the draconian measures this and other
areas of our County are taking against the homeless, even as Christmas
looms and the cold closes in.\n\nWe hope Potters Hand is restored. This
program has given hope to veterans for years. What has been done to Potters
Hand is a shame and the residents of this City need to stand up and demand
Potters Hand be returned to the Vets Hall.\n\nWe accept donations
gratefully from people who are concerned in the community. We do not accept
any federal grants, or money that comes with rules or stipulations – like
permits. I have seen the effect this has on other organizations. The Armory
does not allow medical marijuana patients, pushing them out into the cold,
because they accept federal faith based grants. We are a non-religious
organization. We ask for nothing from the people we feed except to keep the
area clean and be respectful to those around them. We do not turn away any
human being unless they are acting violent or dangerous. This has yet to
happen in our 30 + weeks of service.\n\nHumanity for Homeless is dedicated
to ending the Sleeping Ban here in Santa Cruz and reclaiming public space
for the use of all. We believe we can have a Downtown for everyone without
using the measures the City Council has taken to push the homeless out of
sight.\n\nPlease join us on Monday the 18th, bring food, musical
instruments or just come on down and join us. Everyone is welcome.\nLet us
bring back humanity! Tim Rumford guitarandpen@hotmail.com\n\nIf you are
interested in serving, bringing more food or have any questions you can
 e-mail me at guitarandpen@hotmail.com. \n\nPeace Out\nTim
