 Morning Star Ranch open land experiment.\n\nAmy Balkin's art practice 
 combines cross-disciplinary\nresearch and social critique with a search 
 for\nunrealized possibilities outside conventional systems.\nHer ongoing

 effort to create\na permanent international commons from 2.5 acres of\nland 
 purchased near Tehachapi, California.\n\nBalkin has organised a public 
 conversation between\nartists, legal experts, and people who have 
 been\nengaged personally and politically with open land and\ncommoning, 
 exploring the search for a real-world\nframework for —with the aim of 
 proposing a solution\nthat the artist will then implement.\n\nBalkin's 
 recent projects include Invisible-5, a\ncollaborative environmental justice 
 audio tour of the\nI-5 corridor between San Francisco and Los Angeles,\nand
