 paintings have evolved using automaticism, is through creating shapes which 
 I sense to be significant, responding and again by painting in additional 
 shapes using gestural brush work, adding colors, accents, and creating 
 color harmony or color contrasts. Each shape has a felt reason for being, 
 as well as a relationship with other parts of the work. Lines dart in, 
 ragged, smooth, fast, slow thick, thick pendulum sweeping arches, 
 intercepting, or connecting with larger shapes. Contrast, especially color 
 is hugely important in my work. Shapes compel painterly relationships 
 between shapes. Out of chaos a new balance is created, a harmony between
