 purpose, check \nwww.gender.org/remember/day/what.html\n\nThe annual
Transgender Day of Remembrance will be\nobserved in various cities this
weekend. In San\nFrancisco, the San Francisco Transgender,

Remembrance event at Congregation Sha'ar Zahav, 290\nDolores Street on
 Friday, November 17 from 7:30 to\n9:30 p.m. There was a special liturgy,
music,\nsermon, and a reading of names. All faith traditions\nwere welcomed
at the service.\n\nStill upcoming, SF TEAM also is involved in a new event
 in Oakland.\nThe Tri-City Health Center's Trans Vision program will\nhost
its Day of Remembrance program on Sunday,\nNovember 19. Organizers said the
event marks the first\ntime that Alameda County residents have
participated\nin the ceremony at home, rather than attend one in
a\nneighboring locale.\n\nThe observance, which is free and open to the
 public,\nbegins with a reception at 4:30 p.m., followed by the\nremembrance
at 5 at Preservation Park, 1233\nPreservation Park Way, within walking
distance of the\n12th Street BART station near City Hall. The event\nwill
honor transgender and gender variant people who\nhave been killed due to
anti-transgender violence in\nthe last year. Additionally, the event will
 recognize\nHIV/AIDS and tobacco-related illnesses that
have\ndisproportionately affected transgender people in\nAlameda County.
Keynote speakers include local\npolitical leaders and other active
community members.\n\nFor more information, contact Tiffany Woods
