DESCRIPTION:The TunaHAKI Foundation, in association with the Kuji Project - An Urban
Youth Art Program in the Western Addition and George Washington High School
Dance Company presents the TunaHAKI Acrobats of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania in a
benefit performance Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 7:00 PM. They will
perform traditional dance and acrobatics Saturday evening, winding up a
month long fundraising tour of the United States in San Francisco’s
Richmond District.\nAll proceeds go to the building a new home and
performance space for the street kids and AIDS orphans of the TunaHAKI
Center in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. A light reception featuring DJ Soulz
follows the performance. \n \nOne of the children coming to America is
Coleman. When he was six, his mother brought him to the bus stop in Moshi
and told him to wait for her. He waited a week, alone at the bus stop, but
she never came back. Now Coleman lives at TunaHAKI where he dreams of being
a professional performance artist. This trip is helping build a permanent
home for him and making that dream a reality.\n \nJoin Supervisor Ross
Mirkarimi of District 5, and Supervisor Jake McGoldrick of District 1 as we
welcome this unique group of youth acrobats to San Francisco!\n\n
