 Ranch control burns planned\n\nThe California Department of Parks and 
 Recreation is planning a series of control burns at Wilder Ranch State Park 
 during the week of November 6. The prescribed fires, which will be set as 
 conditions permit, may involve as many as 300 acres of park lands.\n\nThese 
 burns are being conducted to reduce the threat of wildfire and toenhance 
 natural resources within the park.\n\nAs with any control burn in the 
 vicinity of UCSC, there is a possibility of smoke drifting through the 
 campus. Persons who may experience health problems related to smoke 
 exposure should take appropriate precautions.\n\nFor further information,
