 strike is sanctioned by the \nMonterey Bay Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO. 
 \n\n\nWhy are the teachers striking? \n- They have exhausted all options 
 and now have no other recourse but to strike. \n- They have been bargaining 
 for more than two years. It’s stand they must take. \n- Their salaries 
 are at or near the bottom of all faculty in the CA community colleges - 
 \nand this is one of the highest cost of living regions in the state. \n- 
 The college president’s $224,000 salary ranks near the very top of all CA 
 community colleges \n(more than the Vice President of the United States) - 
 and his salary reflects an astounding 82% increase in the last six years!
