DESCRIPTION:You asked for it, and we got it! The only Bay Area hearing on media
consolidation. More than 300 people signed a petition demanding an FCC
hearing in Oakland, and the FCC listened. \n\nOn Friday October 27, two
FCC commissioners will be at the downtown Oakland Marriott to hear public
comments on how media consolidation affects you. The FCC will consider
these comments as they debate new ownership rules that would allow big
media corporations to own even MORE of what we read, watch and listen
to.\n\nThis is a critical opportunity to raise our voices against the
corporate media crisis. More than 900 people turned out to an August
hearing in L.A. Now it's time to turn out in the Bay.\n\nOn Friday October
27, come speak out to stop the monopoly, and demand media diversity and
democracy. \n\nBecause a just media just can't wait!\n\nSponsored by the
NAACP, Media Alliance, the Youth Media Council, and Free Press\n
