DESCRIPTION:Cindy Sheehan, mother of Casey Sheehan, a US Soldier slain in Iraq in 2004,
will be speaking at Fresno State University’s Satellite Student Union on
Wednesday, October 25th at 7 p.m. The event is being sponsored by the
Campus Peace and Civil Liberties Coalition, as well as several other local
organizations and individuals including Peace Fresno, the Fresno Center for
Nonviolence, Reedley Peace Center, Women’s International League for Peace
and Freedom, the Central Valley Counter-Recruitment Coalition, Fresno Free
College Foundation/KFCF 88.1 fm, KPFT 790 am, local attorney Patience
Milrod, and the Steve Haze for Congress campaign.\n\n	Cindy Sheehan became
known internationally when she camped out in front of George Bush’s home
in Crawford Texas in August of 2005 demanding to know for what “noble
cause” her son had died. President Bush refused to meet with her, and
she was soon joined at “Camp Casey” by dozens of Iraq Veterans,
military families, and others who were inspired by her courage and
determination.\n\n	She has since taken her campaign to bring the troops
home to cities around the country and the world, insisting that “not one
more mother’s child” die in a war that she claims was based on lies
told to the American people. Co-founder of Gold Star Families for Peace,
an organization of families who have lost loved ones fighting in Iraq, she
has just authored a book called “Peace Mom, A Mother’s Journey through
Heartache to Activism.” \n\n	The event at Fresno State is free to the
public, and the first several rows of seats will be reserved for those with
family members in the military. \n\n	There will also be a wine and cheese
reception for Cindy held at 5 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church at 4144
 N. Millbrook. A donations of $25 or more is requested to attend the
reception, and proceeds will go to further the work of Gold Star Families
for Peace, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.\n\n	For tickets or more
information, please contact the Fresno Center for Non-Violence at (559)
 237-3223.\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2006/10/06/18318538.php
