DESCRIPTION:Link TV will broadcast a four-hour special, Rich & Poor: Inequality in
America, on Friday, Oct. 6, Wednesday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 28,
 beginning at 5 p.m. PST and 8 p.m. EST.\n\nPart of a gripping collection of
programs you must see before you vote in November, the special night
explores the widening gulf between the haves and have-nots in the U.S., and
what policies are driving the growing divide. \n\nThe special will feature
“Moyers on Inequality in America,” a stirring, two-hour speech by Bill
Moyers, the veteran journalist calls for people to rise up and demand
equality. Not equal incomes — but for a decent and fair society in which
money is not the sole determinant of status of comfort. Speaking at a 2004
conference sponsored by Inequality.org, Moyers examines the challenges to
democracy when wealth, power, and income are in the hands of the
few.\n\nFurther exploring these issues, Link TV host Wendy Hanamura
interviews Air America radio host, Thom Hartmann, author of the new book,
“Screwed, the Undeclared War Against the Middle Class.” \n\nPart of
this story is the disappearing factory job in America. Link TV traces this
story around the globe, right into the sweatshops of Bangladesh and China,
in “The Outsourcing Report: Sweatshop Warriors.” We examine how the
low wage workers around the world are being exploited, and talk to
political satirist, Will Durst, who hosts “The Outsourcing
Report.”\n\nLink TV will also premiere “Poverty Outlaw,” a
first-person account of one woman’s struggle to live on and off welfare
and her fight, with other women who share her plight, to organize and fight
for better rights. “Poverty Outlaw” is the human drama of women ready
to do anything and everything to keep their children and avoid the special
penalties of being poor.\n\nAlso in this special, selections from Robert
Greenwald’s powerful documentary “Walmart: The High Cost of Low
Price,” which uncovers the retail giant’s assault on families and
American values in the pursuit of profit. The film dives into the deeply
personal stories and everyday lives of families and communities struggling
to fight a goliath.\n\nLink TV is available on DIRECTV channel 375 and Dish
Network channel 9410 and on cable in select markets, including New York,
San Francisco and Washington DC. See programs streamed on-line, and check
