 Interdisciplinary Studies at SFAI, Claire Daigle is a writer, art 
 historian, and critic whose reviews have appeared frequently in New Art 
 Examiner, Art Papers, and Sculpture. She was a Fellow in Critical Studies 
 at The Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program and holds a 
 PhD in art history from the Graduate Center of the City University of New 
 York. In 2004 she completed her dissertation, “Reading Barthes/Writing 
 Twombly,” and is now preparing the text for publication. Her work is 
 particularly focused on word and image relationships. A recent project 
 involves the analysis of visual figures in Orhan Pamuk’s novel My Name Is 
 Red. She has taught the history and theory of modern and contemporary art 
 as well as Indian and African art at the School of Visual Arts and Hunter 
 College in New York, and at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. \n
