 an economist at the University of Massachusetts at\nAmherst and is 
 considered one of the foremost academic researchers on the\nliving wage, 
 minimum wage, and labor markets. His research on the fiscal\nimpacts of the 
 Los Angeles living wage ordinance in the mid-90s laid the\ngroundwork for 
 subsequent living wage legislation all across the United\nStates. Most 
 recently, he has conducted research on the costs and benefits\nof the 
 Florida minimum wage increase approved by the voters in 2004 and he\nhas 
 just completed a study about the fiscal impact of the proposed 
 Arizona\nminimum wage increase on the ballot this November. He is 
 co-director of the\nPolitical Economy Research Institute at the University 
 of Massachusetts,\nand among his many books are: Transforming the U.S. 
 Financial System\n(edited with Gary Dymski) and The Living Wage: Building A 
 Fair Economy\n(co-authored with Stephanie Luce). Robert Pollin will speak 
 on the origins\nof the Living Wage movement, the structural economic 
 conditions that are\ndriving this grass-roots nationwide campaign, and
