DESCRIPTION:SALMONERA: \nSalmon isn't what it used to be. Ninety percent of salmon
eaten in the U.S. is factory farmed, not caught. The fish are raised by the
millions in giant floating netpens, all over the globe. The southern coast
of Chile is one frontier being transformed from a string of remote fishing
villages into fish farm row. Now, the booming industry is also putting
fishermen half a world away out of business.\n\nTALES OF THE SAN JOAQUIN: A
River Journey\nThe San Joaquin River has been called the hardest working
river in America, and at the same time, the most abused. Once the
birthplace of hundreds of thousands of salmon, the river now runs
completely dry not just once, but in two separate sections of the original
river channel. Join us as we journey 350 miles from the source of the San
Joaquin near Yosemite National Park to its eventual merging with the waters
of San Francisco Bay.\n\nSocializing at 6:30pm, film starts at 7pm.\n\nsee
www.greenplanetfilms.org for more detailed info about the films. \n\nFree.
