DESCRIPTION:September 28 Rob Los Ricos @ the info shop\nRob Los Ricos a Chicano
Anarchist\nThaxton, a Chicano anarchist, was arrested for hitting an
officer on his shoulder with a rock during\nthe June 18, 1999 Reclaim the
Streets demonstration (which came to be a police riot) in Eugene, Oregon.
Of the twenty-one people arrested in connection with the June 18 protest,
Thaxton received the stiffest charges: Assault II, Riot and Attempted
Assault I. An Attempted Murder charge was briefly brought forth and then
dropped.\n\nRob Thaxton, AKA Rob los Ricos, was released from the Oregon
State Correctional Facility on June 29 after serving seven years.\n\nMore
on Rob Los Ricos\n\nWhen the revolution Rob had prepared himself for
didn’t happen in the 70s, he drifted into activism in the 80s in Dallas,
TX, and was involved in ACT-UP and CISPES, as well as KNON-FM community
radio station, where he was eventually elevated to program director. Rob
left for Austin and attended his first Group of 8 (G8) protest in Houston
in the summer of 1991. While in Austin, Rob got involved with EF! Austin
and the Black Banner Brigade. The Gulf War erupted shortly and the
anarchists became the most militant and spectacular faction of the Austin
anti-war effort. The media silence over the opposition to the war and the
ineffectiveness of the protests led Rob to believe that protests-as-usual
were a waste of time. He then turned his energy towards developing networks
and gatherings of anarchists in Texas which resulted in two statewide
gatherings in Austin (’92 to ‘93) and also an anarchist presence at the
Republican National Convention in Houston (1992).\n\nFor more information
