DESCRIPTION:Globalization at Gunpoint: The Economics of Occupation: The military
occupation of Iraq has enabled the U.S. to enforce privatization of the
Iraqi economy -- in effect, selling off Iraq’s assets to foreign
investors. The program also looks at the challenges to
privatization.\n\nResistance at Home: Millions of Americans have said
“NO!” to the invasion and occupation of Iraq, and the larger Bush
agenda of clampdowns on free speech, increased spying on citizens and the
elimination of civil liberties.\n\nChannels of War: The Media is the
Military: The mainstream television networks have fanned the flames of war,
and have profited from doing so. This program looks at how the corporate
media has sanitized Americans’ field of vision.\n\nThe films are part of
Deep Dish TV's 12-part series entitled Shocking and Awful: The Grassroots
Response to War and Occupation. The series addresses the implications and
consequences of the U.S.'s military actions in Iraq. The series also shows
how people are mobilizing through art, actions, and international law. Each
film is 30 minutes.\n\nSuggested donation $5 to $15\nSponsored by Peninsula
Peace and Justice Center, World Centric, and Peace Umbrella of Unitarian
Universalist Church of Palo Alto \n
