DESCRIPTION:\nStatewide Day of Action to Stop the California Preemption Bill - Tuesday 
 Aug 8th!\n\nOn June 28th, 2006, despite thousands of letters in opposition, 
 the Assembly Agriculture committee voted unanimously in favor of SB1056, 
 the California preemption bill that takes away local government authority 
 over seeds. If this bill passes into law, it will override future 
 restrictions on genetically engineered crops and seeds, as well as all 
 other local regulation of seeds. Since the bill passed through committee, 
 it will now head for a full Assembly floor vote – this is our chance to 
 stop the bill in the Assembly!\n\nThe Center for Food Safety and allies are 
 organizing a statewide day of action against preemption Tuesday, August 
 8th.\n\nWe are asking you to join us in doing two things:\n\n1.  Write your 
 state Senate and House Assembly members on Tuesday, August 8th. Add your 
 own comments to the sample letter provided and email it to your state 
 Senator and Assembly member. If for any reason your elected officials are 
 not reachable via email, you will be given the opportunity to download your 
 letters to print and mail via post. If their addresses do not appear on 
 your letter, you can look them up on the online action page.\n\n2.  Call 
 your State Senator and Assembly member on Tuesday, Aug 8th and ask them to 
 oppose SB 1056. You will be taken to a page where you can look up phone 
 numbers for your elected officials after your email is sent or you have 
 downloaded your letters.\n\nPlease join us on Tuesday, August 8th to stop
