DESCRIPTION:This Friday, "Oakland Artists" a local nonprofit arts organization, is
bringing together stories from the people of Venezuela in an effort to
bridge the gap between cultures and facilitate discussion. The program
will feature a screening of the film "First Fruits" which documents the
rise of "endogenous development" a practice where each community produces
much of what it needs to survive, increasing local revenue and reducing
imports. \nAfter the film there will be a discussion on the Bolivarian
Revolution and the social and political changes being implemented by
President Hugo Chavez featuring Venezuelan Activist Yeiber Cano, Oakland
activist and artist Peter Spannagle and Emily Kurland.\n\nFilm Club
