DESCRIPTION:SOYLENT GREEN \n\nThis classic film presents a grim, bleak vision of New 
 York City in the future, 2022: poor, over-populated, and heavily-polluted. 
 New York’s population has grown to 40 million mouths to feed; and people 
 are forced to remain in the cities by law. Fresh food and tap water are 
 commodities only the very rich can afford. The greenhouse effect has made 
 the temperature unbearably hot. The only way people of New York survive is 
 with water rations and eating a mysterious food called Soylent. In the 
 story, the President of the Soylent Company is murdered -- a crime amongst 
 the elite of society. A cop investigates the murder and discovers a 
 terrible conspiracy which just might shake the foundation of the 
 civilization. The truth he uncovers is more disturbing than the Earth in 
 turmoil when he learns the secret ingredient of Soylent Green. And he finds 
 himself marked for murder himself by government agents when he gets too 
 close to the bizarre state secret involving the origins of the 
 revolutionary and needed new foodstuff, Soylent Green. This film, while 
 made in 1973, is still believable because it tells an original story and 
 subtly, fluidly mingles social critique with mild-paced action without
