 August 4\n\nSanta Cruz, CA- On Friday, August 4th 5-6pm -\nAdvocates of 
 peace and justice will gather across the\nstreet from the clocktower in 
 downtown Santa Cruz\n(Front/Pacific) to denounce Israeli attacks on 
 Lebanon\nand Palestine. After weeks of bombing Lebanese cities\nand 
 Palestinian refugee camps, the results are\nhundreds of dead civilians, 
 thousands of refugees, and\nthe destruction of the cultured, democratic 
 Lebanese\nnation. Despite international outcry, Israel, in\ncahoots with 
 the United States continues to massacre\ncivilians through the use of 
 banned chemical weapons\nsuch as white phosphorous and conventional 
 weapons\nsuch as cluster bombs.\n\nThe disproportionate use of violence by 
 the Israeli\ngovernment against the civilian populations of\nPalestine and 
 Lebanon in light of 3 Israeli soldiers\nbeing captured cannot be justified 
 in any moral or\nmilitary terms. Indeed, as reported on Democracy Now,\nthe 
 invasion of Lebanon was planned months ago in\norder to destroy Hezbollah's 
 military capabilities.\nAnd while the corporate media has portrayed 
 the\ncapture of 3 Israeli soldiers as the catalyst for the\nbombing, it 
 must be remembered that Israel is holding\nmany thousands (estimates are 
 5,000-10,000) of\nPalestinians and Lebanese without charge and 
 has\nrepeatedly attacked Arab civilians.\n\nWe call on everyone who 
 believes in peace to come out\nand call for an immediate cease fire and 
 Israel's\nimmediate withdrawal from Lebanon and Palestine.\n\nWAR IS 
 TERRORISM. STOP THE BOMBING! \n
