DESCRIPTION:Adopting the notion that "we're all family," the Black Family Reuion puts 
 an emphasis on putting the "unity" back in the word community.\n\nThe 2006 
 Black Family Reunion will provide the African American communities in 
 Sacramento and surrounding areas with a fun, safe, entertaining day, while 
 sharing a wonderful culture with other ethnic groups.\n\nThe day will begin 
 with the Battle of the Barbershops Basketball Tournament with teams 
 recruited and lead by Sacramento's Black-owned shop owners. Off the court, 
 entertainment will include a local gosple concert and a very exciting 
 performance by national recording artist Confunkshun, Midnight Star, and 
 Rose Royce.\n\nThe Reunion will also provide an opportunity for African 
 Americans to meet vendors from their own community, as well as those from 
 other cultures. Every thing from ethnic art and collectibles to 
 professional services will be available in our marketplace.\n\n------event 
 schedule---------\nFunkfest – An exciting performance by national 
 recording artist Confunkshun, Midnight Star, and Rose Royce.\n\nBarbershop 
 Basketball Tournament – The Battle of the Barbershop’s Basketball 
 Tournament is a single elimination tournament, with Sacramento’s Black 
 owned shop’s recruiting top ball players who now rank or have ranked 
 among the nation’s most prolific basketball players.\n\nNegro League 
 Baseball Exhibit – This exhibit exists to honor and celebrate the 
 significant contribution of Negro League players to baseball and American 
 history, while also educating others so that Negro League players may be a 
 source of pride and inspiration for generations to come.\n\nGet Hype Talent 
 Showcase – The Talent Showcase provides a forum for talented unsigned 
 African American artists to get the recognition they deserve through our 
 showcase competition.\n\nRip the Runway Hair & Fashion Show – 
 Historically African-Americans have been known to express themselves 
 through many different art forms. Two of the most creative often overlooked 
 are expression through hair and fashion. The Hair & Fashion Show will 
 provide a platform where stylist will be able to showcase their unique, 
 creative, and artistic ability.\n\nSpoken Word Poets – The audience can 
 expect rich exciting programming that will uplift, inspire, and entertain, 
 while raising their consciousness to a higher level. This latest poetic 
 renaissance is a reaction against some of the negative content of rap 
 music, which often points to materialism and violence.\n\nGospel Show – 
 Savor the wondrous sounds of uplifting spritual music as we bring you an 
 exciting hour of the best contemporary gospel music today. It is the 
 mixture of traditional Gospel music and spirituals coupled with the newer 
 contemporary sound that makes this show a hit.\n\nReal Estate & Finance 
 Pavilion – This feature will include financial institutions and real 
 estate professionals ready to assist buyers in purchasing homes, as well as 
 those not yet ready to purchase but seeking more information can also get 
 that help here.\n\nHealth Zone – African-Americans have been found to be 
 among the highest rates of life threatening illnesses such as heart 
 disease, high blood pressure, Lupus, etc. This Health Fair will include a 
 variety of vendors with information on how to improve your health.\n\nBlack 
 College Fair – Special attention will be given to sharing information 
 about historically black colleges and other educational opportunities for 
 African American students. This event is for high school students and 
 junior college students looking to attend four-year 
 colleges.\n\nChildren’s Corner – the children home with the message 
 that, “I know I can succeed.”\nthere will be inflatable jump tents, 
 character clowns, face painting, educational workshops, and many other fun, 
 and safe entertaining activities for the children. .”\n\n…other actives 
 and attractions include Miss BFR Beauty Pageant, Blast off comedy show A 
 Better Black Man Conference, African American Book, Technology center, and 
 a fallen stars tribute-remembering the past, plus
