From July 6th to July 12th, they will fast from 8 am \nto 8 pm daily outside Senator Feinstein’s San Francisco office at One \nPost Street.\n\nDozens of local officials, professionals, veterans, mothers and \nconcerned citizens will spend the night at “Camp DiFi” on July 5th, and \ngather outside her SF office the following week while fasting, to \nencourage Feinstein to co-sponsor the Harkin Bill (S. CON. RES 93). The \nHarkin Bill calls for the lack of a permanent military presence in Iraq, \nno American control of Iraqi oil, and redeployment of Armed Forces from \nIraq as soon as practicable after the completion of Iraq’s \nconstitution-making process or by December 31, 2006.\n\nThis June, Senator Dianne Feinstein voted against John Kerry’s \namendment, SA 2507 which called for a timeline for troop pullout from \nIraq, despite the fact that a majority of Californians, like the \nmajority of Americans, believe the war to be a mistake. Barbara Boxer, \nthe other California Senator, was a cosponsor of the bill. Senator \nFeinstein also recently caused controversy when she purchased a new home \nin Pacific Heights and uprooted a public garden. CODEPINK organizer Rae \nAbileah remarked that “Diane Feinstein seems more concerned about \nrebuilding this leveled garden than rebuilding the country we leveled—Iraq!”\n\nThe San Francisco fast is one of hundreds around the country that \nstarted on the 4th of July.
