COST OF SAVING LIVES \n\nPresentation by Shanti Seliz and Daniel Strauss,
two Arizona college students who face up to fifteen years in prison on
felony charges for saving the lives of undocumented immigrants in the
 Arizona desert. \n\nSunday, June 18, 2006 \n7pm \nColoma Community Center -
 Gold Run Room \n4623 T Street, Sacramento \nDonation \n\nIn July, 2005,
Seliz and Strauss were volunteers with No More Deaths, a faith based group
that set up camps to offer food, water, and medical assistance to desperate
people trying to cross the Arizona desert. The summer is when more border
crossers are found dead in the Arizona desert than anywhere along the
US/Mexico border. Seliz and Strauss were taking undocumented immigrants
into Tucson for medical treatment when they were arrested by US border
patrol agents. They have refused a plea bargain, instead taking a stand to
allow humanitarian aid to remain legal. \n\nSponsored by: Chicano
Consortium, Sacramento Community Forum, Not in Our Name/Sacramento \n
