DESCRIPTION:William Mendoza is the president of the Barrancabermeja section of
Sinaltrainal, the Food Industry union that is suing Coca Cola for hiring
paramilitaries to threaten and kill union organizers.\n\n“I have been a
production worker for Coca-Cola for 14 years. I’m one of the 65 members
of Sinaltrainal that are threatened with death by the paramilitaries. I
have a security program that consists of three bodyguards, an armored
vehicle, bulletproof vest, pistol, and machine gun. The bodyguards are
with me all day, and some nights they stay in my house for increased
security. My family has been victimized.”\n\nThe war on terrorism and
resistance to it reaches beyond Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan to the
Philippines, Venezuela and Colombia and on. There will be additional
reports on the connections between the war on Iraq and increased repression
in Colombia and the antiwar movement in Latin America.\n
