DESCRIPTION:1pm steering committee \n2pm general meeting \n\nWHAT NEXT FOR THE ANTIWAR
MOVEMENT?\n\nThe Feb. 15th and 16th world-wide united actions against the
\nwar have proven that unity and solidarity of action brings the \nmost
people out into the streets! We must build even stronger \nbonds of unity
in the future. \n\nThis Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1pm at our steering committee
we will \nbe entertaining ideas and proposals for how to be as effective as
\npossible to stop this war.\n\nAt 2pm the general meeting will discuss and
vote on steering committee proposals as well as \nproposals that might come
up at the general meeting.\n\nAll decisions will be based on majority rule,
one person, one \nvote.\n\nThere are emergency plans in case of war, work
stoppages, and \nmass actions. Should we all wear black arm bands if war
breaks \nout?\n\nWe have not tapped into the vast majority of youth who are
faced with a future of shrinking job opportunities and more expensive
educational opportunities. Organizing a "Jobs Not Bombs" contingent of the
movement to demand meaningful jobs and more educational opportunities
instead of spending trillions on death and mayhem could bring a giant
resource of young, working class kids of all ethnic backgrounds into the
movement.\n\nOther antiwar "contingents" to the movement could form linking
many issues related to this war, our shrinking economy, violence in our
society, and the dismantling of our civil rights and liberties to name but
a few. \n\nWe want to reach out to community, church, labor, and issue
\nbased and all ethnic groups to join us. We want to reach out to \nArab,
Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim and Palestinian \ngroups and all
religious communities to join our efforts. \n\nThere are proposals for
benefits and teach-ins, conferences and a myriad of other exciting ideas.
