DESCRIPTION:EVOLUTION OF URBAN STREAMS\nPRESENTED BY AM FONDA\n\nA brief examination
of the present state of streams in cities across America will be presented.
We will look at nearby streams here in Oakland at the base of California
coastal foothills. Did you know that Lake Merritt once extended all the
way up to Broadway and 27th Streets in Downtown Oakland, almost across the
street from the Fellowship of Humanity? Weather permitting, following
AM’s presentation, we could car pool to the top of the Oakland hills and,
if we’re lucky, observe indigenous rainbow trout swimming upstream to
spawn. They climb a trout ladder created by the hard work and perseverance
of generations of environmental activists. Join us to see ourselves
through the eyes of AM, a Friend of Temescal Creek. Let’s discuss
briefly some of what it takes to keep natural resources from going extinct
right in our own front yard!\n\n
