DESCRIPTION:Protest outside the Court of Appeal in London on 1st November 2001 - the
day the court is giving its judgment in the case of Ms Samar Alami and Mr
Jawad Botmeh, two Palestinians wrongly convicted in England in 1996 of
conspiring to cause the 1994 London explosions at the Israeli Embassy and
Balfour House. They are innocent, and most of the evidence against them
related to their campaigning work in support of Palestinians in the
Occupied Territories. Furthermore, the prosecution have admitted that they
are withholding vital evidence about the identity of a known terrorist
organisation and/or government, unconnected to Samar or Jawad, that was
apparently planning to carry out the bombings. During the appeal hearing
the judges also refused to allow the defence to call a new witness to give
evidence about a further possible suspect that he had reported to the
police around the time of the bombings. \nThe British government and
security services are determined to keep Samar and Jawad in prison for
crimes they clearly did not commit, all in the interests of political
expediency and protecting whatever vested interests require that the truth
be covered up.\nPlease lend us your support, either by joining the protest,
or by flooding the government and the court with emails in support of Samar
and Jawad.\nMore details on our website: www.freesaj.org.uk\n
