DESCRIPTION:GENERAL INFO/FAQ  Ilene Chaiken, creator of the L word and 2005 Celebrity 
 Grand Marshal, with Daniela SeaM  The parade promptly begins at 10:30am, 
 kicking off with the Women's Motorcycle Contingent, roaring down Market 
 Street with more than 600 "dykes on bikes." Following close behind are over 
 200 Parade contingents and watching from the sidelines - over one million 
 expectant eyes and ears, lined up 12 deep on the sidewalks as the Women's 
 Motorcycle Contingent heralds the progression of community groups, local 
 businesses, floats, marching bands, choruses, politicians, clubs, radio

 Celebration. We also offer bicycle parking! Bring your bicycle to our 
 parking area, located on Hastings Plaza at the corner of Hyde and

 PARADE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS  Juanita More, 2005 Community Grand 
 Marshal  What time does the Parade start and what is the Parade route?  The 
 Parade is always the last Sunday in June and begins at 10:30 AM, at Market 
 and Beale street traveling west along Market Street to Eighth Street.    
 Can I just join in the parade without filling out an application?  No, all 
 parade contingents are required to sign-up and pay for their spot on the 
 parade Non-profit organizations with an annual operating budget of less 
 than $250,000 and who took part in last year’s Pride Parade are eligible 
 for a free entry in the Pride Parade. All we require is that you send in 
 your completed application by April 3rd, along with a letter from your 
 treasurer certifying that your annual operating budget is under $250,000. 
 Please note that after April 1st, the regular fee schedule applies. Please 
 contact our parade coordinator, Marsha Levine, for further details at 
 parade@sfpride.org, or to fill out a parade application go to

 2005M  Do you have a Float Building Workshop?  Yes we do. It has not yet 
 been scheduled, please email Marsha Levine at parade@sfpride.org for more 
 information. No phone calls please.      Can I use Mylar on Float?  The use 
 of any Mylar for either decor or construction of parade entries is 
 prohibited. If your float contains Mylar it will be prohibited from 
 entering the parade route.    Can my group do a little 
 skit/number/performance on the route?  Because we are working on closing 
 the gaps in the parade this year, prior approval is required. To get this 
 approval simply write a letter with a detailed description of your 
 performance and how much time it will take - be sure to include this letter 
 when mailing in your application. Otherwise, you can email Marsha Levine at 
 parade@sfpride.org    Dr. Carol Queen and Dr. Annie Sprinkle, 2005  What is 
 a contingent monitor?  They are volunteers/staff members that you provide, 
 that will need to attend a training prior to the parade, and will walk with 
 you along the parade route acting as safety monitors for your contingent. 
 They are MANDATORY. If you do not have the correct amount of trained 
 contingent monitors the day of the parade, your contingent will be 
 prohibited from entering the parade route and no refund will be provided. 
 Here is how you determine how many contingent monitors you require:  2-25 
 persons marching = 2 Contingent Monitors  26 to 50 persons marching = 4 
 Contingent Monitors  51 to 75 persons marching = 6 Contingent Monitors  76 
 to 100 persons marching = 8 Contingent Monitors  100+ = Add another 2 
 Contingent Monitors per 25 persons  All Contingent Monitors are REQUIRED to 
 attend a training, even if they attended a training last year. A schedule 
 of trainings will be provided in your confirmation packet. The trainings 
 take place in the East Bay and San Francisco.\n
