DESCRIPTION:Max Dashu of the Suppressed Histories Archives presents a visual talk on
 Nubian women. Ceramic images of women in the Sudanese neolithic, the Kerma
 culture and other early classic Nubian civilizations; the priestess-queens
 of Napata and Meroe (and the breathtaking art in their temples and tombs);
 the Nubian goddesses Anuket, Satet, and great Auset; the persistence of
 Nubian matrilineage, village culture, and the long resistance to millennia
 of slave-raids; and much more. We have to start at 7 sharp, so be on time
 if you want to see the most ancient archaeology! The space is on the first
 floor of a beautiful white carved-stone building, located four blocks from
 BART (12th street or Lake Merrit stations). Suggested donation: $10-20.
 Wheelchair accessible. All are welcome. Max Dashu is a woman who has
 researched global women's history since 1970 and created an archives of
 over 14,000 images.\n
