Motion made in federal court to dismiss charges against Rasmea Odeh - by Rasmea Defense Committee
Attorneys representing Chicago’s long-time Palestinian community leader, Rasmea Odeh, have filed a motion and brief in Detroit’s U.S. District Court to dismiss the indictment against her. They are doing so on the grounds that the charges are the product of an illegal investigation targeting both Palestine solidarity efforts and organizing in the Palestinian community.

National Lawyers Guild Condemns Ongoing Arrests of Legal Observers in Ferguson - by National Lawyers Guild
At approximately 10:30 PM on August 21, St. Louis County Police arrested three National Lawyers Guild (NLG)-trained Legal Observers during a demonstration in Ferguson, Mo. protesting the fatal police shooting of unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown. All three volunteers had traveled to Ferguson together from Detroit, Mich. as part of a delegation organized by former Black Panther, Blair Anderson.

Obama Administration Stealthily OKs Expansion of Tar Sands Transport Through Minnesota - by Center for Biological Diversity
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.— With no public input, the Obama administration has abruptly approved a scheme by Canadian tar sands giant Enbridge to sidestep the “presidential permit” and environmental review process for expanding its Alberta Clipper tar sands pipeline. Enbridge had applied to double the capacity of the pipeline, also known as Line 67, that will put it on par with the amount of oil proposed for the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.

ACLU Receives Ferguson Police Department's Incident Report on Fatal Michael Brown Shooting - by ACLU of Missouri
On Aug. 12, the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri asked the Ferguson Police Department to release the incident report for the Aug. 9 fatal shooting of Michael Brown. After the request was denied, the ACLU filed a Missouri Sunshine Law suit on Aug. 15. Late Thursday afternoon, the ACLU received a heavily redacted copy of the incident report.
